VOLUNTEERING for OLD HOME WEEK

We'd like to thank all of the wonderful people and organizations who have volunteered to help put on this wonderful event. We couldn't have done it without you!!

Old Home Week is like an old-fashioned pot luck supper. If everyone helps a little bit then everyone can enjoy themselves and no one person does all the work. There are always the cooks who plan the meal (your OHW Committee), the major assistants (the heads of the different events), the ones who do smaller chores (like help with registration, events, the parade, clean up) and those who don’t like to cook and contribute money to cover expenses (yes, we need that, too!)

So, please consider how you can help and let us know. You can use the Contact form or call Nicki Steel at 464-5277 and we will sign you up or just put your name on a list for future reference.

Some “major assistant” jobs have already been filled but there are a few more we will need.

Parade Assistant on Parade Day - Jim Dassatti has lots of experience as Head of the Parade. He locates the bands, works with the Town and State and organizes the order of groups in the parade. Bonnie Lorimer is going to work with the locals who want to enter into the Parade but we need one additional person. This person would work with Jim on the day of the parade and also find volunteers to be on the parade route.

Publicity Person - This person would work with the Chamber to make sure we are in calendars of event listings, write press releases and help with posters. We also need someone to work with the Deerfield Valley News on the insert that they will publish. This would include getting information, schedules, descriptions, etc. to them.

Clean Up Crew - We need a crew (or crews) to clean up the parade staging area, the Old School field and the Village.

Besides the heads of events we always need people before and during OHW to do a myriad of things. It’s great to have a list of people we can call when we need help. Please consider helping out - it makes such a difference. We know we can come up with something just for you!
